Beef Ration Workshop Schedule

   British Columbia

The Peace River Forage Association based in Dawson Creek has scheduled four feeding strategies courses that will focus on ration balancing. Contact Julie Robinson at (250) 782-4501 for details.

   Alberta

The North Peace Forage Association (NPFA) based in Fairview, Alta. is planning a series of CowBytes “Kitchen” courses, which will bring four to five producers together at farm homes for a half-day or evening session. Working with laptop computers supplied by the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, the association is planning six courses this fall and another six early next year. Course cost is $25 per person.

Lakeland College based in Vermilion, Alta. has scheduled seven day and evening ration balancing workshops. The workshops schedule at Lakeland College campuses includes:

  November 10 and 17 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. in Lloydminster
  November 13 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Vermilion
November 26 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Sherwood Park
  December 1 and 8 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., in Vermilion
  December 4 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Lloydminster

The West Central Forage Association (WCFA) based in Edson, Alta. ran two workshops in late October. For more information contact the WCFA office toll free at 1-866-725-4447.
 

   Saskatchewan

Saskatchewan Agriculture, Food and Rural Revitalization Livestock Development Branch has planned eight workshops through November and December. Each can accommodate up to 12 people. More workshops will likely be scheduled in early 2005. Scheduled workshops include:

November 4 Spiritwood
  November 9 North Battleford
  November 24 Unity
  December 2 Meadow Lake
  December 7 St. Walburg

The Manitoba Forage Council and partners, working with Manitoba Agriculture has so far scheduled six ration balancing workshops this fall. Each are limited to 10 participants. The schedule includes:
